Many thanks to Gina at Singledust for nominating me – I do love a challenge, especially one that involves something as divine as music.

The Rules

1. Thank the person who nominated you. Thank you once again, Gina.
2.  Share one of your favorite song/lyrics one at a time for three days.
3.  Nominate three other bloggers each day. (Or one, one is probably enough)

Nomination

I nominate watchyourlifeinpictures. You already have a superb taste in songs and often post of them, but well, challenges are fun.

The Song

There is something about certain songs that stick to you for so long, it becomes part of your routine, sometimes even your personality. This particular song from the movie Bajirao Mastani is a soulful rendition of love, separation and the joy of union.

To me personally, it is a reminder of a beautiful companionship, an important lesson and the lyrical representation of the relationship that our wandering souls have with divinity.

Some of us believe in a personal god, others don’t.

I’m still not sure yet where I belong in this category however, there is something mysterious that courses through our veins and binds us all as one even in, and especially in, our uniqueness.

The way this song resonates with me is primarily because of the importance it gives to love. As a power that goes beyond human made constructs such as religion, class or nationality.

And above all, its ability to help us create our own destinies.

“Adhoori mulaqat hi toh phir se milne ka vaada hota hai”

Lyrics translation  from Here

Om Mangalam Bhagwan Vishnu Mangalam Garud Dhwaja
All auspiciousness to Lord Vishnu, all auspiciousness to the one who has Garuda (Eagle) as His flag
(Om is a mystic syllable, considered the most sacred mantra in Hinduism and Tibetan Buddhism. It appears at the beginning and at the end of most Sanskrit recitations, prayers, and texts.)
Om Jai Jai Om Mangalam Pundarikaaksham Manglaaye Tano Hari
All auspiciousness to the one who has eyes like petals of a lotus flower,
And auspiciousness to Lord Krishna

Aaj Ibaadat, Aaj Ibaadat Roobaroo Ho Gayi, Roobaroo Ho Gayi
The one that I have worshipped (prayed for), I’ve come face to face with her today
Jo Maangi Thi, Jo Maangi Thi Uss Dua Se Guftgoo Ho Gayi
What I was desiring for, I’ve had a conversation with her

Mere Maula (x4)
O my Lord!
Tera Shukriya
Heartfelt thanks to You

Aaj Ibaadat Roobaroo Ho Gayi, Roobaroo Ho Gayi
The one that I have worshipped, I’ve come face to face with her today

Dard Ke Andheron Se, Aa Gaye Ujaalon Mein
From the darkness of pains, I’ve come into the light
Ishq Ke Charagon Ka, Noor Hai Khayalon Mein
The glow of the lamps of love is there in my dreams
Dard Ke Andheron Se, Aa Gaye Ujaalon Mein
From the darkness of pains, I’ve come into the light
Ishq Ke Charagon Ka, Noor Hai Khayalon Mein
The glow of the lamps of love is there in my dreams

Nazron Se Teri Chaak
With just the gaze of Your eyes
Dil Pe Rafu Ho Gayi (x2)
My heart has mended

Mere Maula (x4)
O my Lord!
Tera Shukriya
Heartfelt thanks to You

Aaj Ibaadat Roobaroo Ho Gayi
The one that I have worshipped, I’ve come face to face with her today

Om Mangalam Bhagwan Vishnu, Mangalam Garuda Dhwaja
All auspiciousness to Lord Vishnu, all auspiciousness to the one who has Garuda as His flag
Mere Maula
O my Lord!
Om Mangalam Pundarikaaksham Manglaaye Tano Hari
All auspiciousness to the one who has eyes like petals of a lotus flower,
All auspiciousness to Lord Krishna

Maula
O my Lord!

  1. This song! It’s really nice. Like it’s not the kind of song I’d download and keep in my phone but it’s the kind of song that I would listen to completely if it ever played.
    Nice post :’)
